We also enjoyed an exciting snowball fight (that my neighbor John decided would be fun to join in), and an awesome wrestling fight between myself and Justice. I won. I was driving home from my friend’s house after purchasing a book from her when I saw a good on the side of the road. I was speeding past but decided to turn around because something wasn’t right. </p> <p>I pulled over and got out of the car to go up to the goose and saw one wing dragging on the ground as he walked. I knew it was broken and assumed that someone must have hit him and drove on by. I walked up to the goose, hoping he wouldn’t run off but he did, wattling toward the pond beside the road. Knowing that it would be impossible to catch him alone I called my friend who I had just visited, Jamie, as well as my housemate, Maggie.</p> <p>I waited for the two, watching the goose as he dipped into the water, his wing sinking into the water, useless. When Maggie and Jaime arrived, both with blankets, we followed after the goose. He was in the water so I climbed through some brush between the houses and the pond to make noise and get him to go to shore. After a while the goose finally started swimming to the side we wanted him at.</p> <p>As we were walking towards where he was going some asshole came out of his house and spoke to Maggie, who was closest to him. He asked her, “Can I ask you a question?” Maggie responds yes and the man goes on in an angry voice, “Don’t you know this is private property. You aren’t allowed on here.” Maggie explains that we are trying to rescue a goose. The man goes, “Oh, well it’s going to die anyway.” What a fucktard. At least we can bring it to a vet to be put down if there is no chance, instead of being killed by some kid or a loose dog.</p> <p>Anyway, once the goose is out of the water Maggie, Jamie, and I corner the goose by a fence. The goose, now realizing that he is cornered, bolts but because of his wing he trips and I catch him. I pick him up and wrap him in of the towels, careful of his injured wing and discuss with Maggie and Jamie what to do.</p> <p>Maggie decides to head home and Jamie takes me and the goose, in the back of her car, to the vet hospital by my house, where I once worked. My former boss and current vet comes out to see me in the car. He looks the bird over, seeing the blood that is covering my hand from his wing, but can’t do anything since he doesn’t ever practice on birds. He is really helpful though and contacts another vet for us. After we get the info from my vet we rush over to the other hospital. </p> <p>As we rush to the hospital the poor bird has pooped on me twice so we are quite lucky the vet takes us right away. There is nothing either Jamie or I can do now so the vet thanks us for our good deed and we leave after filling out paperwork.</p> <p>After taking a shower, I call the vet before I head to school. Sadly our little goose had to be put to sleep. The vet discovered two bad fractures in his wing - one of which was by his shoulder. I feel really bad that this guy had to be put down and wish that people, when they hit an animal, would pull over and help it instead of just driving onward and letting it suffer.
